Families with autistic teens aging out of school find themselves with limited resources and opportunities for their children here in the Charleston area. High function individuals with Autism, may have the ability to enter the workplace with job coaching, but non-verbal or non-communitive individuals don't have the same opportunities. As a parent of a non-communitive autistic daughter, I found myself in crisis when she aged out of school. Typically, transition services are offered in the last two years of high school, but COVID made that impossible. So, when my daughter aged out of the public school system, we had nothing to transition into. The lack of routine is a formula for disaster in the world of autism. The day she wrote, "I am lonely," my heart broke. I knew if there weren't any opportunities for her, I would create them, and
The Autistic Life, Inc was formed.
Our goal is to provide a fun filled summer camp for young adults that have aged out of school. with the proceeds from our tee shirt sales.
Everyone needs a purpose, and everyone deserves opportunity. We hope you will support our program. The Autistic Community is such a growing underserved population in our community.
The Mission of The Autistic Life is to provide purpose and opportunities to young autistic adults in our community.

The Mission of The Autistic Life is to provide purpose and opportunities to young autistic adults in our community.
Ultimately, our Vision is to build a "bridge" from school to adulthood by providing transition services, continued education, job training and a social network for autistic adults. Such a thing does not exist in our community. So how do we get there? One dollar at a time! It's going to take money to build the bridge!
So what do we mean by "Bridge?" We envision a location, a building, that will house a variety of activities for the autistic adult. It has a room that can provide training for jobs in retail, grocery stores, libraries, mail rooms, and restaurants just to name a few. It has a classroom that provides continued education for that young person that is just not ready to jump into the work place, and provide a social meeting place for adults with special needs to make friends and connections.
So that's the main goal! Until that dream comes to reality, we hope to hold periodic actives centered around this population. We will sell merchandise and hold community fundraisers to reach our financial goals of having a program that promotes a purposeful life!
We Thank you for your kind donations to The Autistic Life!
